Sunday Morning

Regular worship at Gower is 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Visitors are always welcome at Gower and are encouraged to make themselves known to the greeters, ushers, people sitting near them, and /or ministers, and to sign the guest book which is on the table in the vestibule.

A children’s time is included in each service and then the children go to their Sunday School classes. Children are welcome at Communion so on Communion Sundays, the children return to the service so that they can participate. Intergenerational services are held three or four times a year.

Following the morning service, various members of the congregational groups and committees host a fellowship time during which members of the congregation and visitors have an opportunity to meet each other and enjoy some refreshments. This is held in the Tait-Osmond Room, located behind the pulpit and easily accessible from the sanctuary.

The services are greatly enhanced by the music provided by the organist, choirs and bands.

Large print bulletins are available, and hearing devices will be supplied by the ushers upon request. Typed copies of the sermon are also available. Individuals who have hearing problems can request a printed copy of the sermon and will find it waiting for them upon their arrival at church. All services are recorded and tapes can be obtained from the church office. These are welcomed by shut-ins and other people who have been away or for various reasons have not been able to attend a service.

Communion is usually held on the first Sunday of each liturgical season – Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. In addition, Communion is served at the last service on Christmas Eve, and on World Wide Communion Sunday which is the first Sunday in October.

Baptism is scheduled for the fourth Sunday in the month but we do try to be flexible if that is not convenient for the parents.
